A Stone Table Courtyard:
St. Peter & Paul Roman Catholic Church and cemetery rests on the north side of highway 616, on the edge of Camrose County. The building has some new windows, but is waiting for new stairs to be put in place, since the old ones seem to have rotted away. Walking the grounds, early on a Sunday morning, I was quickly drawn in to the sense of peace and solitude of the place. At first, I intended to stay close to the perimeter of the property, since I've not been able to conjure any foundation responsible for its care. I simply couldn't resist a short wander through the well cared for gardens, taking in the flowers that bloomed away, right beside the ruins of decay. The place was a mesh of duplicity. Deserted, but anything but solitary. The further I went into the gardens, the more intrigued I became. Hidden from the road, a large stone table seems to stand watch over the cemetery. My mind wandered to ceremonies that must have taken place there. I half expected to see the gnawed off ropes lying on the grass, remnants of C.S. Lewis' Aslan, and his great stone table redemption.
